One theater season has come to an end and another is creeping up on us. So before we forget about all that has been on stage in the last year, it’s time to cast your ballots for the 2011 Curtain Call Awards for the best in theater in the Sarasota area. Balloting is open through Aug. 31.

Audiences traveled from “Avenue Q” to “The 39 Steps” and came across “Twelve Angry Men,” “Five Guys Named Moe” and “Two Gentlemen of Verona” at various theaters from Anna Maria to Port Charlotte.
There are four categories in this year’s ballot: Best Play and Best Musical divided between community and professional theaters. On the ballot, you will find an alphabetical list of all the productions we were aware of during the season through Aug. 11, 2011. All you need to do is click your choices.

The Curtain Call Awards voting leads up to the publication of the Jay Handelman’s 2011 Handy Awards, when the Herald-Tribune’s theater critic picks his favorite shows, performances and some of the most memorable moments on stage during the season. You can read the Handy Awards in the paper and online on Aug. 28, and we’ll publish the list of Curtain Call Awards winners on Sept. 4.
Balloting for the Curtain Call Awards will be open through Aug. 31, so vote now!
