Okay, folks, V-Day is six days away (and counting!).
Hopefully, you’re one step ahead of me and have already selected, purchased, inscribed, and mailed a perfect Valentine’s Day card to all the objects of your affection.
Not limited to, but including … your girlfriend, boyfriend, best friend, old friend, prospective lover, future spouse, Mum, Dad, Grandma, Uncle, niece … in short, anyone and everyone who floats your boat, rocks your world, gives you goosebumps, or just makes you smile.
You get extra points if you send a love note to a secret crush and don’t sign it. You get good karma forever – if you take a chance and sign your name!
Hallmark gets a bad rap sometimes for sugary sentimentality in its cards — but check out your local Hallmark store today if you haven’t already bought your cards — I think you’ll be surprised at the range and hip factor they’ve got going on. I know there’s a Hallmark store in the Paradise Plaza at the corner of U.S. 41 and Bee Ridge Road. Tell ‘em MC sent ya!
A great choice for beautiful cards is Elysian Fields – located in the plaza at the corner of U.S. 41 and Bahia Vista (right behind the new Panera). I love the selection there and always find something perfect.
Of course, I MUCH prefer to make my own cards. It’s something I’ve been doing since I was a kid and I just love to put pen (various colors) to paper (sometimes just cardboard from the back of a legal pad) and invent a great card with my own sentiment written inside. It might sound cheap but it’s really more about creativity (at least that’s what I tell all the people I give handmade cards to!).
Whatever you do GET IT IN THE MAIL! Snail mail!
